Across the Illinois-Wisconsin border near the popular Mars Cheese Castle store, is an all-but-abandoned cocktail lounge decorated with large, blue and yellow stars. I love these stars almost as much as I love the cheese curds I get at Mars. They’re kitschy and beautiful. Add some fluffy white clouds and perfect blue sky, and they make excellent subjects for my eager camera.

I didn’t check to see if this sausage was screw-top or not, however. Would someone go to Mars Cheese Castle to double-check? Bring back cheese curds if you do.

Yesterday we arrived in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin in time for their National Mustard Day celebration. We saw the Mustard Museum, tried some mustard, but really settled into a tall, cold glass of Grumpy Troll golden lager.

The latest art project along Michigan Avenue uses re-purposed refrigerators. I recently had to replace mine, so it’s nice to think it ended up as a work of art. Actually, I wouldn’t mind if my ‘fridge looked like this for real.
I can believe the circus that’s going on around the Blagojevich trial, but it looks like his dream of endless publicity is coming to fruition. At the very least, he’s been immortalized by the state’s taggers.
