I never knew what that Golden Earring song, Twilight Zone was about until I looked up the lyrics online. I completely changes my interpretive car dancing.
Still a cool song, tho…

I got off my butt and to the House of Blues in time to see VNV Nation open with Honour 2003. Originally, I wasn’t going to go because I hate HoB as venue and because I didn’t enjoy VNV’s last concert. I spent all afternoon waffling about it. But then I saw people posting songs on Twitter and buzzing about going to the concert, and it broke me down. I started playing random stuff from all their albums. I realized about an hour before they took the stage that I was going. Hell, I was already halfway there. There really was no choice.
I walked in on Ronan singing “Stand your ground, this is what we are fighting for. Our spirit, laws and ways. Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war. For heaven or hell we shall not wait.“, and I was lost. I spent the next hour and a half jumping up and down, the lyrics pouring out, waxing and waning with the energy of the oh-so-goth-y crowd. Sometimes it’s an act of love to see your favorite band in concert.
In case you have any doubt about seeing yours the next time they’re in town – go.
I swiped the setlist from Booraven, who got there nice and early for the opening acts. She gushes about them, so I now I need to check out Ayria and War Tapes in addition to downloading VNV’s newest album.
