We ended up staying in Green River State Park last night, so we were set-up very nicely to get to Arches National Park this morning. It was a short drive, maybe 30 miles, but the landscape changed dramatically to deep, wind-chiseled canyons of red-banded rock. I don’t think I stopped saying oh-my-god for miles. Pattie was probably ready to whack me for over-gawking at mother nature. Whatever.
It’s $10 to drive through the Park and it took us the better part of three hours. We saw everything – Balanced Rock, The Windows, The Devil’s Garden. Well, everything but big horn sheep. I was a little disappointed by that.

On our way out of the park we ran into Gustav and Charlotte who we had last seen in Erick, Oklahoma on Day 5 of our roadtripping adventure. They had gone to Amarillo, Las Vegas, and Four Corners since we last saw them, and yet we met up at Arches. Queue a verse of “It’s a small world.” I am convinced that I will see them again one day, perhaps in Denmark or maybe on the long road East.
We’re moving East on I-70 towards Denver to stay with B’s parents. It’s 1:30 pm and we’ve traveled 5090.7 miles.
