Snow Scuplture Festival
The city of Chicago sponsors some unexpected, cool events from time to time. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this outdoor exhibit while searching for a photo safari. Ten foot blocks of packed snow were being sculpted by teams into shapes ranging from Oscar the Grouch to snOprah to a graceful Asian portrait and the delicate wings of an eagle. L.A.T.E. Night Bike Ride
Pete makes some predictions at the start of the ride. What a beautiful night for a bike ride! It was a clear night in the city with temperatures in the low 70’s and no humidity. I couldn’t ask for a nicer situation…and I’m glad nearly 9,000 members of my bike gang could join me. Awesome! If you’ve never done the L.A.T.E. night ride before, it’s a dead-of-night excursion through the city’s neighborhoods that ends with breakfast at Buckingham Fountain while the sun comes up. More details here. Some notes-to-self from this year’s ride: Pick up the rider packet early to guarantee a spot in the first wave.
