Peaches and crème fraîche top a lovely cake.

I like shooting dishes with available light to preserve the shades of white -- notice the distinction between the white plate and the crème fraîche. There's also enough light to make the reds of the peaches and yellow of the polenta pop. It looks good enough to eat.

The house salad tasted as good as it looked!

I like the mirrored effect in this photo. It's actually two bowls of house salad, but the depth of field was set very shallow to render the second bowl softly out-of-focus, referred to as bokeh. It makes the bowl in the foreground pop. I don't normally like shooting bowls of food, but the placement of bowls at an angle creates visual interest.

Delicacies await on top of faux ice cubes.

It was incredibly difficult to shoot in Schwa without a flash. I don't use flash for my restaurant photos because I don't want to disturb the other diners and I find it washes out delicate morsels served on white flatware. A friend had a cellphone with powerful back-lighting and that that served as my main light source throughout the meal. All that was required was a little color-correction in Photoshop to make this meal look as good as it tasted!

Devon Seafood specializes in seasonally available fish.

The grill pattern on this piece of fish was nearly perfect and was offset nicely by the soft, yellow-colored sauce. I found it visually appealing as well as tasty.

The only thing missing was a cold glass of milk!

Even though the dessert is secondary in the photo, I think this shot captures all the joy of eating chocolate chip cookies. Plus, it's an action shot that screams "get your cookies before they're gone"! I don't often take shots of people because I want the focus to be on the food, but this is one of those cases where it makes sense.
