I’ve seen placards, signs, and now a marque imploring Twitter users to follow accounts. I have to wonder how well this works offline. If you don’t know what Twitter is or don’t use it, then it’s noise. If you do know, you may not have a device handy to put a Twitter handle into.
Though I’m usually packing a cellphone, I use my phone for publishing and not for monitoring or adding Twitter accounts — mostly because I haven’t found a Twitter client that rocks my Samsung. I’m not going to write accounts down, so if it doesn’t come home with me on a business card it’s gone.
I snapped this picture on Easter Sunday and haven’t noticed Chicago Theater’s numbers spike. If you’re interested, they’re currently at 2182. I’m sure those numbers will go up over time, but is this display driving numbers? I have my doubts.
Anyone seen research on the effectiveness of offline efforts to increase social media account growth?
