Vote

your vote counts

My vote won't have an impact on delivering Illinois for a candidate this year. The electoral math for Illinois was calculated and settled months ago in Obama's favor. I still went to the polls early to vote for him and I waited in line for 1 1/2 hours to do it. I don't think I've ever been prouder to stand in a line in my life. Imagine, waiting in line to VOTE! When has that ever happened? When do we ever see that kind of engagement in the electoral process?

If you have the right to vote in this country today, do it. Do it even if your state has been called by CNN for a candidate, do it even if you feel like a single vote is a statistical aberration, do it even if it's inconvenient or you may have to wait for a while. A vote can be about more than casting a preference for a candidate. It can also be a show of faith and an act of citizenship that lends momentum to the changes that we all need. Vote. It counts.
