alligator sky water

This my favorite photo from my recent trip to Gatorland. I get drawn into the contrast between wet and dry; soft swirling sky and dry, sun-baked gator; oily water and tough hide. This alligator is all potential energy. The murky water hides everything and draws the viewer into studying the reflection of clouds.

“Feed me your hotdogs. Or small children. Whichever. Do it now.” You can almost feel the alligator trying to bend you to its will.

Gatorland is a wonderful place.

The rest of the equally dramatic and revealing alligator photos can be seen here.

After we saw Jackie Chen speak at Chicago Gourmet, we couldn’t wait to try Red Light, her restaurant on West Randolph.

Unfortunately, we found a big discrepancy between Jackie’s theory of cooking and the execution of it. Read the review on Chicago Bites for details.

After seeing this ThinkGeek movie I knew I had to get a zombie plushie because, well, they’re evil little dolls. Fortunately Pattie’s happy birthday provided an excuse for an evil purchase!

Enjoy the movie.  Drop Pattie a Happy Birthday on Twitter @Piratealice — you still have a few hours left.
