Michael Reese Hospital - a photo safari

Michael Reese Statue, originally uploaded by Zesmerelda.

LaCa and I went on a photo safari yesterday to the soon-to-be-abandoned Michael Reese Hospital. The place still has a pulse, however. Air conditioners are on in seemingly empty buildings, fresh flowers are on the table with windows facing onto an overgrown public park, there are cars in the parking lot but no sign of people. It was creepy. A look inside reveals tattered furnishings, peeling paint, and crumbling infrastructure. I'm told that they still have 80 patients, but I have no idea why they'd stay. Creeeeeeeeeeepy.

Check out my photo set.

And check out LaCa's.

We're planning our next photo safari adventure in Chicago, and I'm open to your suggestions! Where should we go?
