Well, the restaurant anyway. B & I talk about Peruvian food on this week’s Chicago Bites.
I have one of those good news, bad news things — for the fourth straight month in a row, we’ve exceeded our bandwidth. That means that people are listening — which is good, but people are downloading lots of files — not as good.
The next step up for hosting are corporate plans starting at $100 a month. I would prefer not to drop that kind of money until we can recover costs with CB. Can anyone recommend a reasonable hosting package for high-bandwidth users? I would love to hear from you! Thanks!

Playing with the alpaca mural at Machu Picchu
I stopped in Wolf Camera the other day to exchange a battery. They didn’t have what I needed in stock, so I decided to explore other ways to spend my store credit. It seemed like a better idea than lugging over there in the cold January weather.
I’m in the market for a macro lens, but on that day I wasn’t prepared to discuss focal length, shutter speed or apertures. It was pretty obvious, and I think the sales guy was as frustrated as I was in trying to communicate what I needed and what I needed it for.
I threw up my hands, but he got out a scrap of paper and wrote down the url for wikipedia and the search terms I needed to look up on the site to learn about macro photography.
That extra bit of customer service may get me back to the store, and I applaud the effort to use the Internet to educate and help customers. However, I have to wonder why Wolf doesn’t have help like that on their own site.

Learning about gear can be a challenge

This monster cookie is one of the many vegetarian/vegan desserts at the Chicago Diner.
On this week’s Chicago Bites podcast, we head out to try the delights of vegetarianism at Chicago Diner. I’m normally opposed to faux meat, but I did try the “bacon cheeseburger”. It tasted almost, but not completely, unlike a real bacon cheeseburger. It was a good sandwich and I did finish it, but I wish I’d gotten the radical Reuben instead. Aw well, maybe next time.
