Laptop abandoned at Cafe Neo

Would you leave your laptop at a coffee shop unattended? I saw a guy leave his laptop, gloves, peripherials, backpack and coffee at a cafe I frequent in Lincoln Square called Cafe Neo. He didn’t just go to the bathroom – he actually left the cafe and went somewhere for over twenty minutes.

The barista said that he would abandon his laptop regularly, but didn’t seem too concerned. After all, there are security cameras in the place. This is an area of laptop culture that I do not understand.

Do you leave your laptop? Do you ask a total stranger to watch it for you? If you do this, why do you feel comfortable doing it?

I’m predicting a rise in laptop theft….and maybe glove theft. Those gloves were tempting me to a life of crime.
